He came in, through slivers of dark
He came & went, without leaving a mark
Creeped in, and shook my hands
Said, I like you, let's be friends
The dim lights of an ampersand
In the twilight of no man's land
The thin line between this and that
Discovering my own country like an expat
The pagans that sang the choir
The vegans that killed desire
The guns begging to be hired
And the children, they raised and sired
We all stand in the line
Where the front gets first
And the last gets left behind
We are all in the maze
The only way out is in
With the sign posts all erased
I opened my eyes to the rising sun
And said goodbye to him, on the run
He said, if you leave, I want your crown
But, I un-horned the devil in return, and watched him frown
He came & went, without leaving a mark
Creeped in, and shook my hands
Said, I like you, let's be friends
The dim lights of an ampersand
In the twilight of no man's land
The thin line between this and that
Discovering my own country like an expat
The pagans that sang the choir
The vegans that killed desire
The guns begging to be hired
And the children, they raised and sired
We all stand in the line
Where the front gets first
And the last gets left behind
We are all in the maze
The only way out is in
With the sign posts all erased
I opened my eyes to the rising sun
And said goodbye to him, on the run
He said, if you leave, I want your crown
But, I un-horned the devil in return, and watched him frown
